Structural design and site safety engineering

The intervention concerns the new offices of YARD company, active in the field of Real Estate. The location of the building, Corso Vittorio Emanuele in Milan (pedestrian area), imposed rigid construction dynamics. Although the works consists in internal refurbishment, the topic of site safety has been particularly demanding in relation to the constant presence of pedestrians and the respect of timetables far from the greater turnout. By joining two different planes in a single unit, the main structural work was to manage the vertical connection, realized with a metal carpentry stairs. The design choice of lightweight materials has been adopted to avoid excessive additional loads on existing structures.
