structural design and supervision of structural works
The existing building consists of 3 floors (about 250 square meters per floor) and it is made of bearing masonry wall, consisting of the perimeter of the same and two spine walls.
The new extension was created in order to have a new residential floor and a glassed-in overhead partially in communication with the underlying dwellings, partly accessible from the flat walkable roof.
The structure was made of steel beams and pillars, with hot-rolled profiles.
The bracing system consists, in one direction, of the extended stairwell structure and the existing spine wall, in the other by the same spine wall and 4 cross bracing crosses positioned at the ends of the building.
In addition, four balconies were created: two simple and two for housing glazed greenhouses. Their supporting structure will also be made of steel profiles.
